This past month, my life has been like a fast-baked European bread, golden and crispy on the outside, but tightly stretched to its limit on the inside.
The cost of sleeping only 2-3 hours a day is a "forced shutdown" after the work is done. That night, I experienced "sleep paralysis" – being consciously awake but unable to move my body – followed by skin inflammation and stinging. This made me, as a Pastry Chef, reflect: When our body protests, besides sleeping, what other "repair instructions" can we feed it?
So, I put down my recipe development and conducted a dietary experiment on "nerve and immune repair" for myself.
🥣 Lab Note: The Repair Logic of 122 Grams
This recipe is not just for taste; it's a functional snack designed for sleep recovery after high stress and for damaged skin barriers.
【Precise Ratio Formula】
-
Energy Carrier: Purple rice and red bean mixture 122g (soaked in cold water to activate B vitamins)
-
Yin-Nourishing Barrier: Dried white wood ear mushroom 4.5g (rich in plant colloids, moistens lungs and relieves skin stinging)
-
Calming Core: Dried longan 6-8 pieces (natural longan aroma, regulates overactive nerves)
-
Solvent Ratio: Filtered water 690ml (the golden water-to-ingredient ratio of 1:5.6, yields the richest and smoothest texture)
-
Functional Seasoning: Brown sugar 2 spoons + Inulin a small amount (helps stabilize blood sugar, repairs gut microbiota)
【Process】
-
Cold Maceration: Be sure to soak dry ingredients in the refrigerator overnight to ensure even water absorption by starches, resulting in a fine texture that is easy on the stomach.
-
Colloid Emulsification: Tear the white wood ear mushroom into pieces and cook with the beans for 45 minutes until natural thickness is released.
-
Post-cooking Seasoning: Turn off the heat and let it cool to about 80°C before mixing in inulin to avoid high temperatures destroying its prebiotic properties.
🥛 Surprising Discovery: The Harmony of Milk Fat
The best way to enjoy it is to pour a circle of fresh milk into the bowl. The tryptophan in milk, combined with the B1 and B2 in purple rice, creates a synergistic effect. The aroma of milk fat not only balances the caramel sweetness of brown sugar but also calms agitated nerves. After drinking it, the stinging sensation on the face will gradually subside, making it easier to enter high-quality "deep sleep."
Figure 1.1: Octa-Logic (OLI) Performance Modeling Analysis of RECOVERY-122 Formula
This figure illustrates the performance of the repair formula, lab code RECOVERY-122, across eight functional dimensions. Through precise WAC% (water absorption coefficient) control at 1:5.6, a high concentration of plant-based colloidal texture was achieved. Even after removing inulin, the physical properties of red beans and white fungus ensured excellent DF% (dietary fiber density), and the addition of milk significantly improved PDCAAS (protein digestibility-corrected amino acid score), providing structural support for nerve and skin repair after high stress.

🌿 Founder's Musings
At TELAPA Creation Lab, we research "methods" and "life."
These past few days, I've learned that when your skin is inflamed and you're exhausted, the best formula is often not complicated additions, but complete surrender – surrendering to fatigue, surrendering to the body's rhythm. If you wake up at 3:30 AM and aren't sleepy, don't rush to open your computer to work; go to the kitchen and make a warm bowl of purple rice porridge instead.
Good work takes time to mature, and so do good founders.
📌 Repair Checklist (Daily Checklist)
-
Magnesium and Zinc Supplement: Sprinkle some roasted walnuts and pumpkin seeds when eating.
-
Side Sleeping Prevention: During sleep recovery, it is recommended to sleep on your side to reduce the frequency of sleep paralysis.
-
Hydration: Drink plenty of warm water and reduce caffeine intake when your skin is stinging.
